Jackson County, or North Park, Colorado is a bowl in the northern Colorado Rockies and the surrounded by the great Rocky Mountains. It is a scenic delight with year-round attractions and is one of the few undeveloped areas left in the state where peace and quiet are the rule, not the exception.
The seat of Jackson County is the town of Walden where small town charm abides. It is located approximately in the center of the county. Cowdrey, Rand, Gould and Coalmont are the other towns in the park.
Summer activities are abundant in the park, from hiking, fishing, and camping to driving dune buggies at the states's only OHV approved sand dunes and taking in the Never Summer Rodeo. In the winter, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and sledding are a staple, and it is a short traffic-free drive to many major ski areas such as Winter Park, Vail and Stamboat Springs. Hunting is abundant in the fall, and enjoy the sounds and sights of beautiful springs. Year round, you will always have the delight of wildlife watching and enjoying the amazing mountain scenery.
Walden is home to the North Park School District and the community rallies behind their Wildcats wether they are playing football or competing in FFA .
There is an airport north of town with two paved runways. (5900’X75’ and 4500’X100’, LIRL lighting, 8143’ elevation)
